Non-greasy type of lotion is what we need the most. It stay matte and moisture throughout the day although the weather is hot. But to find the perfect combination of good smell and good ingredient is hard especially when most of the lotion has dangerous substance such as aluminum, alcohol and some other substance which we should avoid.

So here I'm gonna provide to all of my viewers THE SECRET OF HOMEMADE LOTION.

Oh! BTW don't forget to share the secret with your best friends *shhh*

Okay so first secret to homemade lotion is *drumroll* ALOE VERA AND ALMOND OIL LOTION!

  • Use a double boiler to melt half a cup of almond oil or grape seed oil and ¾ ounce of beeswax (shredded into small pieces). Now mix 1 cup of aloe vera gel, 10 drops of any essential oils (like geranium and lime) and 1 teaspoon of vitamin E oil in a medium sized bowl
  • Pour the melted oils into blender, allowing them to cool down and to avoid oil separation. After oils get cooled, blend them on low speed, while pouring aloe vera mixture slowly into it in a continuous fashion. Run the rubber spatula to mix all ingredients properly and blend till mixture attains a feel and look of a lotion. Alternatively, this mixing and blending step can be performed in a mixing bowl, using a handheld electric mixer. Pour the prepared non greasy lotion in sterilized jars and store them in refrigerator, which can then stay fine for period of 6 weeks.
Second secret is DRIED PEPPERMINT LEAVES LOTION

An incredible creamy moisturizing lotion can be made using dried peppermint leaves, steeped in distilled water or rosewater and using beeswax as an emulsifier. This creamy lotion is good for all skin types and even safe for babies as it is very light with consistency of body butter having lovely, floral and subtle scent.
Prior to preparation, it is always favourable to sterile equipments with alcohol or bleach water. Melt 3 tablespoons of beeswax and ¾ cup oil of your choice in a double boiler or microwave.
The solution should be clear without any beeswax chips floating, to ensure it is properly done. Allow the mixture to cool down. Meanwhile, put one cup of water (steeped with peppermint leaves) in the blender along with essential oil (optional) and let it blend on medium speed. Then pour the melted beeswax and oil mixture into the blender and continue blending it, till no water is seen on the top. As soon as lotion is prepared it thickens and gives a creamy buttery feel on touch. The recipe is extremely simple to perform and makes 2 cups of non greasy moisturizing lotion that lasts for 3 months. You may add in Vitamin E if you want it to last longer :)

Third secret is OATMEAL LOTION

I bet all of you never heard about oatmeal lotion isn't it? Most of the times, oatmeal is popular for facial scrub or face mask. However, do not forget the function of oatmeal which is to moisture our skin. It means that OATMEAL IS MULTI PURPOSE! Yeayy!!

Use ground oatmeal and grind it properly in a food processor. Just by mixing it with minimal amount of water will give it a slippery touch that can then be used directly as an effective lotion. It not alone moisturizes the face, but also serves as a good exfoliating agent (removes the dead skin cells) when scrubbed gently over the skin surface. This non greasy lotion is equally useful as primer, for putting make up every morning and also for removing stubborn eye makeup at end of the day.
Just put a little amount of the lotion on to the cotton ball and clean off the face. The same oatmeal lotion can serve more beneficial, if coconut and grapefruit essential oil are also added to it. Coconut oil aids in fighting off bacterial infection of the skin and grapefruit essential oil improves the skin clarity. Additionally, it adds on to the fragrance and still remains non greasy and light weight lotion, safe and healthy for daily usage without making hands buttery or greasy.

Sounds good isn't it? So let's move to fourth secret and also the last secret which is VANILLA BODY LOTION! *psstt! This is my favorite homemade lotion and I'm sharing this one with you so you better feel lucky* :D

The reason why I love this lotion is because it smells so good and sexy and tasty and luxurious at the same time. It leaves your skin smooth and soft.

So here is the ingredients and how to make this special lotion.

  • 1/4 cup any carrier oil (find carrier oils here)
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil (find high quality coconut products here)
  • 1 oz beeswax (either grated or in pellet form) (buy beeswax here)
  • 2 teaspoons shea butter (buy shea butter here)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (make your own with this recipe)
  • Method

1. Place carrier oil, coconut oil, beeswax and shea butter in a glass bowl or measuring cup inside a saucepan. The saucepan should have enough water in it that the water touches the bottom of your glass double boiler, but doesn’t spill out.

2. Over medium heat, stir the ingredients together until they are melted and combined. It will take a little while for the beeswax to melt.

3. Remove mixture from heat and stir in vanilla extract.

4. Fill your desired container(s) with the homemade lotion and allow to come to room temperature.

5. The lotion will have a balm-like consistency when it cools. If you prefer a creamier homemade lotion-like feel, simply beat it for a minute with a hand mixer.
